The story of Calcidrata begins in the early 20th century and goes through an era full of significant events and deep changes. The company took its first steps in 1909, in a scenario that was quite different from the current one: from a small and simple enterprise, only engaged in producing quicklime, from its very beginning Calcidrata has taken up the challenge of changes and rapid industrial innovation. ....

SELECTED RAW MATERIALS.

The lime production process has been known for thousands of years, in fact, the oldest discovery is a lime flooring found in Israel which dates back to 7000 b.C. The most remote examples of lime mixtures, dating back to the 7th and the 6th millennium b.C., were mainly found in the Middle East, places where researchers believe that the development of knowledge on binders took place. In Europe, the studies on the sacred temple of Monte D’Accoddi, located in northern Sardinia and dating back to the 3rd millennium b.C,, have demonstrated the use of raw lime mortars created by compacting calcite particles, obtained from "albino" neogenic limestone deposits, mixed with water (R. Vecchiattini 2009). Such discovery shows that lime has long been used in Sardinia, and this is confirmed by the numerous lime kilns, found in the island.

OUR EXCELLENCE

Calcidrata products are made with raw materials analysed in our laboratories, where the best Sardinian limestones are selected including those of the Orosei Marble District, a compacted coralligenous and bioclastic limestone, resulting from the deposition and stratification of shells, which allows us to obtain a top quality lime. The limes obtained through the controlled slaking of the oxide resulting from the calcination at about 900° C of the best Sardinian limestones are used in agriculture, by using the Agricalcium product to correct the soil pH, and with Calce Idrata (hydrated lime) and Fiore di Calce (hydrated lime powder), due to their high chemical-physical properties, excellence and purity, in water treatment, desulphurisation, disinfestation, soil stabilization, creation of eco- friendly floorings and neutralization of acid substances.
